As we age, many of us develop lines or wrinkles that make us look tired or angry. Radin Skin Centre offers BOTOX injections to provide a more rested, rejuvenated, and youthful appearance. A fast, safe way to look younger with no downtime or surgical incisions, BOTOX injections can be completed in minutes and will temporarily improve the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles.
Dr. Daniel Radin at Radin Skin Centre is a dermatologist board-certified in both Canada and the United States. He provides all BOTOX injections at our office; they are not administered by a nurse or family physician. As a specialist, he thoroughly understands facial anatomy and uses the most advanced techniques to provide the best, most natural-looking results with minimal risk. BOTOX and most other anti-aging skin treatments were developed by dermatologists, so they are safest and most effective when performed by a dermatologist / skin expert.
Dr. Radin is the first dermatologist in Southwestern Ontario to be using Dysport. Some patients find that Dysport may last slightly longer than BOTOX. They also sometimes feel that it has a quicker onset of action and a more natural feel. Both Dysport and BOTOX are excellent products, and Dr. Radin uses both to give his patients the best possible options.
Dr. Radin has extensive experience successfully providing BOTOX injections to soften lines and wrinkles such as:
The results look natural.
BOTOX is often called a “wrinkle relaxer” because it treats wrinkles that are caused by repeated facial expressions, such as frowning. The repeated facial expression creates a muscle contraction that results in the wrinkle. BOTOX temporarily relaxes the muscle contraction and blocks the nerve impulses that cause the wrinkle. The skin then becomes smoother as a result.
BOTOX is a botulinum neuromodulator that has been used safely for many years to treat muscle spasms, often in children. In these medical procedures, the doses of the neuromodulator must be higher than for cosmetic use. Any complications have primarily been a result of these higher doses.
BOTOX Cosmetic requires only a low dose of the neuromodulator and the substance has been extensively studied. It remains one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the world and has been studied extensively.
Your injections will require only 10-20 minutes in our office. With a fine very needle, the injections will be administered in the designated areas. You will feel a minor sting, but patients find that BOTOX injections are not very painful. A topical anesthetic can be used to ensure your comfort.
There is no recovery period required after BOTOX injections, although some patients experience slight soreness, itching, swelling, and/or bruising in the injection areas for a day or two. Many patients have none of these after-effects.
You can return to work immediately after your appointment, even if you have your injections during your lunch hour. You may also apply makeup right after your appointment.
Refrain from lying down for the first few hours after your injections. Dr. Radin recommends “moving” the muscles after the injection to “work in” the medication.
The full results of BOTOX are not immediate but show up gradually during the first five to ten days.
BOTOX injections last about three months. Only one treatment is necessary at a time, but they must be repeated to maintain the results.
For lines, folds, and wrinkles caused by loss of volume, a facial filler may be a better choice for you. We will advise you which anti-aging procedure will help you look the way you want.
BOTOX is also a very effective treatment for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of the armpits, hands, and/or feet. If antiperspirant is not enough to take care of your perspiration, BOTOX might be the answer. For sweating, the effects of the injections usually last six months, but they can last much longer for some patients.
